Above the knee amputation of 98 yr old man05/03/2007 |
What is the likelihood of survival of my father who had a stroke and also has a pressure sore on his foot that is not healing after debriding surgery? The doctor want to amputate above the knee so that gang green want happen. My father has a pacemaker and is now hospitalized for fast heart beats. Is given medication to slow his heart rate.
I'm not sure what we're talking about: long term survival in a 98 yr old? Or surviving a surgery? Any surgery in this pt. would be high risk and the doctors taking care of him should be able to give him an estimation of that risk.
