Large round bowel movements

06/12/2007

Question:

I need informayion about large round bowel movements. My daughter has had issues with this since her birth last year. She did have a severe milk protein allergy but now it has resolved. The BM`s have not. They average in size from pea size to golf ball size and consist of literally 100`s of smaller balls. She struggles to have a BM and I cannot seem to get answers. Shis almost 16 months and she has been on everything the doctors can think of!!! Help me.

Answer:

From you description, it appears that she is relatively constipated and would likely benefit by something that keeps more water in her stool.  I will caution you, that using medications to make this better will take time, sometimes several weeks to several months, and would suggest that you talk with you daughter's primary care provider.
