Reasons to visit dentist if no teeth.06/07/2007 |
I have an elderly uncle who has no teeth, just dentures. He hasn`t been to a dentist in decades. Is it the role of a denturist to check for oral cancer, gum disease, etc., or should this be done by a dentist?
I need a simple written explanation from a professional stating WHY a person in his situation should see a dentist; he is a tightwad and won`t spend money if he thinks it isn`t necessary. I couldn`t find this information on the internet; went to various sites. Thanks!!!
Only medical professionals with highest education in dental field (which is a dentist) are trained to diagnose cancer lesions in the mouth. That is why I highly recommend that your uncle see a dentist at least once a year.
