Triscupid valve leak and pulmonary hypertens.06/06/2007 |
I have a moderate to severe leak of my triscupid valve and with an echo i have a pulmonary pressure of 44.I am now having a right heart catherization but my pulmonary tells me her gut instinct that I do not have pulmonary hypertension. Please advise what is the correlation between the triscupid valve leak and the pulmonary pressure
The echocardiogram is a good screening test; so if an individual has symptoms, we can estimate the pulmonary artery pressures by echocardiogram. However, it can over or underestimate the pressures. The right heart catheterization will measure the pressures in the right side of the heart, and the pulmonary artery is required to make the diagnosis.
