Thick mucus coming between teeth!
My Mother is having a thick white mucus comming from her teeth all the time ,also tells me that the taste is bitter and is always picking at her teeth to give it comfort. Sometimes the mucus gets caught in her throat.
Without examining your mother directly, what she is describing sounds very much like a condition known as burning mouth syndrome. This condition has many different presentations, and affected patients can have:
- abnormal sensations
- salty, metallic, or bitter tastes
- abnormal smells.
But when carefully examined, nothing abnormal is found in the mouth.
I would advise you to get an appointment for your mother to see an oral and maxillofacial pathologist or oral and maxillofacial surgeon. In the meantime, the links below will give you additional information about burning mouth syndrome.
