Numb 2 weeks after teeth/bridge extraction

Question:

I had two teeth and the bridge between them removed 2 weeks ago (lower jaw on the side). In addition to nitrous and topical anesthetic, had approximately 8-10 injections of local.(Have history of local not working that well and takes longer for injections to be effective) Half of chin and lip still numb 2 weeks out. Any ideas?

Thank you for your question.

It appears that there are some persistent changes to the nerve that affect sensation to your jaw. This may be due to the surgery or to the injections causing injury to these nerves. I would advise to see your dentist as soon as possible and have him or her definitively diagnose this situation. Fortunately, in the vast majority of cases, these symptoms slowly resolve over time.
