Pharmacy and Medications

Is it the Norvasc 5mg or the Atacand 16mg?

07/05/2007

Question:

Hello, I currently take both of these drugs for my hypertension. This past week my ankles have been swelling but it doesn`t happen until late in the afternoon, I am fine til then. I know Norvasc can cause swelling but can the Atacand do that as well? I try to drink more water and sometimes that helps. Can having the swelling be something to be concerned about? Thanks.

Answer:

Thank you for your question.

You are right, ankle swelling is a side effect of Norvasc. Atacand is not known to cause this. I would advise you to see your doctor. This is a side effect he/she should be aware of.
