Eye and Vision Care

Dull ache behind right eye

07/02/2007

Question:

For about a month, I`ve had a persistent dull ache behind my right eye. Sometimes it`s also noticeable behind my cheek bone and on the right side of my nose. Sometimes the pain is barely noticeable; other times (when I`m especially tired, like now) it`s hard to ignore. What could this be, and should I see an ophthalmologist or my regular primary care provider?

Answer:

It sounds like a possible sinus infection. See your primary care doctor. He/she can tell you whether you need further care from an eye care specialist such as an optometrist/ophthalmologist or not.
