i have pf and iwant to know if it is normal to have pain in your lung and chest?
Pulmonary fibrosis alone should not cause pain in the lungs and chest. Potential causes of chest pain in patients with IPF can include simple causes, such as musculoskeletal injury from coughing or increased exertion with exercise, or more serious disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease/heartburn, blood clots in the lung (pulmonary embolus) or heart conditions such as coronary artery disease. Many IPF patients who have had lung biopsy surgery can experience pain or an uncomfortable sensation afterwards as the chest wall heals.
There are many causes of chest pain and identifying the cause often depends on the timing and nature of the symptoms and further testing. To determine the cause of your chest and lung pain, you should contact your physician for further evaluation.
