Orange colour period

07/17/2007

Question:

Hi, My friends period is 13 days late. On the 11th late day she spotted a bright orange colour blood. She describes it as the colour of an orange crayola crayon. She did a pregnancy test yesterday and it came out negative. Every few hours she spots the bright orange blood. Do you have any idea what this means? Is it possible she is having a very early miscarriage? We have never heard of bleeding of this colour and she is starting to get worried, please help us...

Answer:

The color of menstrual blood can change, and is usually nothing to worry about. Spotting can occur at midcycle, from ovulation. If there are further concerns, it would be best to see a health care provider.
