Rehab for RA

Question:
I have RA and my fingers are tilting towards my thumb. Is there any thing that I can do to straighten them or prevent them from getting worse?
Answer:
Some suggestions are as follows:
- You may want to visit with an occupational therapist; certain braces or splints could be designed to help keep your fingers straight, or at least prevent additional curvature.
- The most viable options for RA of which we are aware are heat and, in some cases, gentle stretching exercises. We would encourage you to consult a physiatrist (MD specializing in rehabilitation) and/or an occupational therapist to discuss these in greater detail.
