Sores on the tongue

I get sores on my tongue that look like canker sores. They appear on the tip of my tongue and sometimes on the top or sides. I also get sores on my lip or on the inside of my mouth. What are they from and what can I do at home to help ease the pain?

As long as they heal by themselves, you could try an anesthetic (numbing) sore throat spray (spray & then spit) or small amounts of toothache drops as directed on the bottle.  Both items are available over the counter without a prescription.  You might also check your diet.  If the sores do not heal, see your local dentist.
