Painful swelling inside nostril11/01/2007 |
Over the last two days my nostril has been very sore to slight pressure from the outside. This morning I reached up inside with my thumb and felt a painful, swollen area about where the bridge meets the nostril flare. The swelling is also slightly visible on the outside. The bridge seems fine on one side of the nose, but a little puffy on the side that has the swollen internal area.What can I apply to calm it and get rid of the swelling?

Most likely this is a staph skin infection. Topical antibiotics such as polysporin may help. If not, see a doctor. You may need a prescription for antibiotics by mouth or prescription topical such as bacitracin.
