what does that mean
Thank you for your question. There are many causes of calcifications in the lung. These causes range from previous inflammatory processes such as infection or bleeding to previous asbestos exposure to being a manifestation of high levels of calcium in the blood (an example would be chronic kidney disease). Usually calcifications in the lung are indicative of a benign process but on rare occasion may secondary to a malignancy. If you have concern, you should discuss with your primary care provider.
