Can this harm a unborn baby if someone that the expected mom lives with has contracted MRSA?
Not necessarily and not likely. MRSA and methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus can colonize and/or infect humans, including newborns, but an unborn baby is protected from many infections unless the mother is sick. If there is any concern that the mother is infected, she should see her obstetrician as soon as possible.
