Bleeding after miscarriage

08/13/2007

Question:

approximately 8 weeks ago i had an early miscarriage, i bleed for six weeks i was told by my hospital that the bleedin would end naturally, if not consult my gp. The bleeding stopped for nearly a week and a half, then started again i consulted my gp who has prescribed me with 10mg twice daily of duphaston i have taken this for three days how long does it take for the bleeding to start to stop. thank you

Answer:

It depends on how far along you were in your pregnancy when you miscarried. It also depends on whether or not everything was removed from your uterus. You should have a negative pregnancy test. You may have started your normal cycle or just had a small amount of bleeding again. By 10-12 weeks, most women have had a return to normal bleeding.
