Pancreatic Cancer |
Pancreatic cancer09/06/2007 |
if a partial whipple procedure was completed but the tumor was wrapped around the blood vessles.... now 3months later the cancer has spread to the liver what should we expect over the next month?? there is hurting in the lower stomach and back. the last ct scan shows that the tumor is spreading. the patient wanted no treatment after the surgery.
Unfortunately, pancreas cancer is a very aggressive cancer. Once it has spread to the liver the median survival is in the range of 3-6 months. Chemotherapy may increase survival by months but does not offer any realistic chance of long term cure. The most important aspect to concentrate on at this point is quality of life, to make sure patients are not in pain, are able to eat and do the things that they enjoy.
