Understanding Headaches

09/11/2007

Question:

My husband had a dull headache - eventually it got really bad - it started on the right side of his neck and worked its way to the top of the right side of his head and then went down to his right eye, his cheekbone and his jaw - what could have caused this - it got so bad he thought he was going to vomit - unfortunately we were out and when we got home he took two Aleve which is the only thing he can take - what kind of a headache was this - is there any reason to be contacting our doctor

Answer:

Yes. Have him contact his physician for evaluation. From your brief description, It will be very difficult for me to determine the nature of the headache your husband is suffering from. There is a lot of questions that must be asked such as:

1) How sudden was the headache?

2) How severe is it?

3) How old is your husband?

4) Any other associated symptoms?

5) Did he experience similar previous attacks?

Please, have your husband contact his physician for evaluation. Best Regards.
