Breast pain09/11/2007 |
This morning I woke up with a pain in my breast. It is not like the soreness and tenderness I get every month. The pain is worse then that and it is almost in my armpit. It is also tender there. I have just came off Prednisone so my menstral cycle is still all over the place. I do a self breast exam each month and there has not been any changes. I am 34 years old. Can you tell me what are some thing that could cause this and should I just wait to see if this goes away on it own? Cancer but not breast cancer runs on both sides of my family.
First of all, congratulations on taking the initiative for your health and doing a breast exam every month. That’s great. I’m glad to hear that you haven’t had any changes. You don’t say why you were taking the Prednisone, how much or for how long, but that could have an effect on your hormonal balance which could be a reason that your breasts hurt. It would be a good idea to look carefully at your breasts to see if there is any redness or a part of your breast that is particularly painful.
In any case, it would be a good idea to have a provider take a look at your breasts to determine if there is a reason for the discomfort that can be determined by an actual physical examination.
Hope this helps.
