Asthma and Developing Bad Odors

Question:
My five year old son has allergies and has symptoms of asthma according to doctors although it is seasonal. My concern is sometimes he has bad smell around him. I wonder whether its anything to do with asthma. What could be causing the smell?(it’s not a bad breath smell)
Answer:
Asthma, and the medicines used to treat it, do not typically cause any change in body odor. Some patients with asthma are prone to sinus infections – which can cause bad breath. That situation is about the only time I can recall parents expressing concerns that their child “smelled different.”
