Can`t burp while laying down.09/24/2007 |
For as long as I can remember, I have been unable to burp laying down. This can be quite annoying when I`m comfortable and about to fall asleep because I have to move to a full sitting position for even the smallest of burps, and I burp a lot. Even if I try to get it to come out while laying down, it seems to get caught in my chest, which makes me even more uncomfortable than I was before. Is this normal or could there be something wrong? I haven`t talked to anyone else who seems to have this problem.
An esophagram to take a look at how your esophagus (food pipe) is moving would probably be a good idea. Although I have not personally encountered this complaint from patients, it would be a good idea to look into it by having this assessment done through your GI physician and a radiologist.
