Twisting testicle vs hernia10/22/2007 |
Can these two have simular symptoms? My son who is 9, six months ago was diagnosed with a twisted testicle which under doctor supervision corrected itself. Tonight he complained he may have it again but it appeared out of know where and he is pointing to an area more like a hernia my husband feels.
At 9 years of age, a twisted testicle (torsion) is unusual but can occur. Sometimes the symptoms are intermittent, with severe pain lasting 30 to 60 minutes, corresponding to the spermatic cord twisting and then untwisting. If this is the cause of the pain, the treatment is scrotal orchiopexy, in which the testis is fixed to the scrotal wall on both sides.
