HPV question10/26/2007 |
Well, I was taking the Gardasil shots and I was on my second round when I asked for a complete STD testing. When she gave me my results she said everything was negative and my pap smear normal. However, that she tested for HPV and it was positive. She told me over the phone and I was a bit shocked and didn`t know how to react, I was also at work. She did tell me that it would probably go away on it`s own because my pap was normal so it wasn`t that bad. What does that mean? Just having it sounds bad to me. She didn`t give me any instructions to follow up for treatment or anything- and everytime I call for my last Garodasil shot I`m told they`ve run out. I know it probably won`t help me anymore, but shouldn`t I be taking something for the HPV? I also have itching, but very rarely. Should I be getting treatment or something??? Are there certain questions I should ask my doctor about the type and condition? Do I need an appt for that, my insurance gives me so many problems?? Thanks for your help, I just don`t know who to turn to for help.
Here's a web site regarding Gardasil. It's from CDC and will help answer some of your questions. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/vis/downloads/vis-hpv-gardasil.pdf
I strongly encourage you to set up an appointment with your doctor to discuss the report and clarify some of the questions you have regarding the Pap smear.
