Urinary and Genital Disorders (Children)

Children with dark pubic hair age 6 years old

11/09/2007

Question:

What causes a 6 year old child to start growing pubic hair? Could it be that she may start her period early, or is this a disease?

Answer:

That is an unusual finding. I would suggest having her evaluated by the pediatrician or possibly a pediatric endocrinologist.
