What is the difinition for lacunar? Know infarct in a blockage of some kind. Please
Lacunar stroke is one involving the deep structures of the brain, caused by blockage of the small deep penetrating arteries. There are characteristic “lacunar syndromes” of stroke related to the areas supplied by the deep penetrating small vessels, such as pure motor weakness of the face, arm, and leg.At times, small deep lesions are seen on imaging studies such as a MRI scan. These too may be referred to as “lacunes”, even if they were not associated with clinical symptoms.
