Anxiety and Stress Disorders

Male Perspiration and Stress

11/15/2007

Question:

My husband has recently been breaking out in a full blown sweat for apparently no reason. We can be sitting at a movie , driving in the car etc. and his face and entire head will begin to prespire so much so that it runs down his face and soaks his hair. This can last up to 10 minutes or so and then it is gone. He is somewhat overweight but has been for many years so that wouldn`t be new. Any suggestions?

Answer:

With no association with panic, fear or anxiety, I doubt this is an anxiety disorder.  There are some metabolic disorders that can lead to these symptoms, and I would encourage you to make an appointment with your primary care physician for an evaluation.
