Architectural changes to breast11/17/2007 |
I have just been for my first mammogram after finding a lump in my right breast. They did not find any lumps on the mammogram or sonar but found that there is a disturbance in the architectural pattern of the right supero-lateral quadrant. I have been told to return in 6 months. My GP says this a bad thing cause something is wrong. Should I get a second opinion / biopsy?
Yes, a lump and an abnormal mammogram require further evaluation, and it is not necessary or desirable to wait 6 months. A reason for the lump can be determined sooner with further tests, and perhaps a biopsy. I recommend you see a breast (or general) surgeon for further evaluation.
