11/26/2007

Question:

47 yrs old never had children --posterior cervical exophytic myoma 2.6 x 3.2 X 1.7 cm i has a neg pap smear but i complained of brown discharge 2 weeks after period it seems to be brown mucus. Have had this for 3 months. Normally i have a sticky clear discharge at this time like egg whites. The sonogram found the myoma. I do have a sensation as if a tapon is in sometimes but it comes and goes. Gyn wants to do a d&C coukd this be cancer should i be at a gyn/ocn---could his be cervical cancer

Answer:

A pap smear and D&C are appropriate evaluations for your abnormal bleeding. If cancer is detected, then a gyn oncologist would be asked to take over your care. It could very likely be from the myoma.
