Cystic Fibrosis

Can cystic fibrosis?

12/05/2007

Question:

CAN INCEST BE A FACTOR IN CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Answer:

All recessive conditions, both rare and common ones, are more likely to occur if both parents are related. The parents are more likely to be carriers for the same thing. For example, if they’re 1st cousins and their grandfather was a CF carrier, they both have a higher chance of being a carrier (of the same mutation, no less) and have a higher risk of having CF.
