Elastic hymen

12/04/2007

Question:

is hymen a thin membrane which is always easily broken in first intercourse or is hymen a rim of tissues which can fold over along the walls of vagina and can allow the penetration of penis in vagina without breaking & bleeding ? do some girls have elastic hymen which may break after first few intercourses ? is that true ?

Answer:

The hymen can remain as a thin membrane that covers (usually partially) the opening of the vagina, but it usually is just a ring of tissue that is around the opening of the vagina. It can break with or without intercourse.
