Mine was found out during an ECHO. I am a 34 year old women.Previous Question: I just found out the I have mild to moderate Pulmonary Hypertension. I have high blood pressure for years that they said was caused my taking Prednisone for my rheumatoid arthritis.
Can I develep. pulmonary hypertension from my rheumatoid arthritis or from the medications used to treat it?
Answer: It is rare to get pulmonary hypertension with rheumatoid arthritis. How was the diagnosis of mild to moderate pulmonary hypertension made - by echo or by cardiac catheterization?
Echo can suggest mild to moderate pulmonary hypertension in people who have high blood pressure. A right heart catheterization is needed to confirm that the pressures are truly high. None of the medications used to treat rheumatoid arthritis have been shown to cause pulmonary hypertension.
