Pancreatic Cancer |
Whipple procedure12/12/2007 02:33PM |
My brother has been diagnosed with pancreatic CA, a 2 cm mass in the head of the pancreas. Lymph node biopsy and other studies are pending. Are there any statistics available to the public where we can see how many procedures a certain surgeon has done, if he/she is committed to staying current with updates, etc? My research has shown that mortality rate is greatly affected by the skill of the surgeon and we`re not sure how to go about finding this information. Thank you for your time!
The best thing to do is to go with the surgeons who do many pancreas surgeries per year.I don't recall where was the data presented, but for sure it shows more procedures by a specific surgeon indicates better outcome. Check out how many whipple procedures are being done by that hospital/center.
