3 week old baby has had 3 set of bottom teeth12/16/2007 |
I work with healthy families and I have a baby that I work with who was born with two bottom teeth. The dentist pulled those two. Shortly after that, two more teeth came up in the same spot. Those two were also removed. Now there are two more there and he is also cutting two of his side teeth. He is only 3 weeks! Have you ever heard of such a thing before and if so what causes this to happen?
While it's not too uncommon for a newborn to erupt primary teeth, your description of successive eruption of teeth is highly unusual. Other tissues that may appear to resemble teeth can sometimes develop, and I recommend that this baby be examined by a pediatric dentist.
