Why do my feet itch so bad?01/07/2008 |
My skin isnt dry, I do not have any type of visible rash. My feet look perfectly normal but they itch so bad. This has been going on for months now. Any advice?
Itching is generally associated with some type of allergic reaction and usually involves the release of a substance call histamine; however this is usually accompanied by some type of redness or rash. Athlete’s foot, caused by a fungal infection and other types of bacterial infections can also cause itching but once again is usually associated with redness or a rash. Once those possibilities are eliminated as causing your problem there is the possibility that your itching is related to some type of sensory neurological issue. This would require an examination by a podiatrist or neurologist to make that determination.
