Salivary fistula treatment options

01/29/2008

Question:

I had my Parodectomy surgery on Dec. 11, 2007 and found salivary fistula on December 24 (Oozed out liquid about 2 cc during each meal). Surgeon agreed his wrong diagnosis yesterday (he thought it is organ secretion). My question is what are the best treatment options: Compression or other? Best Regards!

Answer:

In general, with time and wound care the fistulas will resolve. Completion parotidectomy is the definitive treatment.
