Recurrence of hydrocele01/24/2008 |
My 8 month old son has gone under the operation for his hydrocele 3 days ago. After the surgery the size was smaller and the skin was so loose. Today it seems that it has some swelling again especially on the right side and the skin is not so loose anymore. Is there a possibility of recurrence?
Hydroceles can recur, particularly if they are large. There is a technique that is very effective in preventing a recurrence. Most probably, however, everything is fine. Scrotal swelling following hydrocele repair is common. Usually the scrotal swelling resolves by 4 to 6 weeks post-operatively.
