what is a mass on the lung
Thank you for your question. A lung mass refers to a solitary, solid density of the lung that is usually greater than 3cm in size. Smaller densities are called nodules. There are many both benign and malignant causes of nodules and masses of the lung. The evaluation of a mass or nodule involves taking a careful history, performing an examination, further imaging, and often a biopsy.
