Correct diet for Collagenous Colitis

01/31/2008

Question:

I need to know the correct diet for Collagenous Colitis. I already eat a high fiber, fruit and vegetables, etc. Raw as well as cooked. Not a lot of meat. If meat is good, what kind, etc.

Answer:

You're doing all the right things. I do not think there is a specific diet for collagenous colitis but as with any colitis, high fiber is the key. Add a supplement, such as Metamucil or Citrucel if you are not eating 25-30 grams of fiber per day.
