Rectal bleeding with no pain

02/06/2008

Question:

Hello!

This morning, I noticed a significant amount of blood in the toilet water. It was fresh and bright red. I observed and when I pushed a little, more blood was coming out of my anus. I did not have any anal or abdominal pain. There was no blood coming out from my anus the whole day. But when I defacated again later within the day, the same event occurred. But still I am not experiencing any pain. I am also not taking any medications. I am just 25 years old. Male, and in good health. In fact, I have recently (past 6 months) given up eating red meat and decreased my carbohydrates intake. I have been a little stressed lately and had been a little short of sleep. THis is the first time I have experienced this.

Please advise.

Thank you and have a blessed day.

Answer:

Give your primary care doctor a call and describe your problem. You should be examined for evidence of irritated internal hemorrhoids and other anorectal problems that may cause the bleeding.
