Will I ever go through menopause?02/26/2008 |
I will be 53 (!) in June and I`m still having periods every 28 days! I had uterine fibroid embolization in December 2007 and so far, my periods are not shorter or lighter. At what age should I consider it a problem not to be going through menopause? I`ve read that if you haven`t gone through menopause by 55, your risk of breast cancer skyrockets. Is that true? How can your risk of breast cancer increase BOTH by being postmenopausal and by NOT going through menopause by a certain age?
The normal range of menopause is 41-55. The risk of breast cancer goes up with age, but the rate of increase slows down after menopause even though it is still going up.
