Pulmonary Hypertension |
PH and pleurisy02/28/2008 |
I had an echo done and it showed mild to moderate PH. I also have rheumatiod arthritis. Now my doctor says that I have Pluesiry casued by my RA. I am waiting to see a cardiologist. If it turns out that I do have PH would the pleurisy from my RA make the PH worse and should it be treated more agressively becaue of that?
Pleurisy is more frequent with RA than PH . It is uncommon for RA to cause PH, and you will need a right heart catheterization to confirm that you have pulmonary hypertension. The pleurisy does not cause PH or make it worse.
