Acupuncture and In-vitro Fertilization

02/26/2008

Question:

I am a 41 year-old woman who just completed failed in-vitro fertilization cycle. I produced 12 eggs from 12 follicles. My fertilized eggs were actually pretty good (2 excellent, 5 very good to good) but by time of blastocyst transfer, only 3 okay to transfer (growth had slowed down). Acupuncture and in-vitro fertilization have been in the news lately. I am wondering whether acupuncture can help improve my eggs if we go through in-vitro fertilization again. My follicle- stimulating hormone( was 6, but my estradiol was high. If TCM could help, what kind of protocol would you recommend? At my age, I don`t know if I can do the 3 months of acupuncture required that I`ve read about. Thank you.

Answer:

I do not know if TCM would help or not. You need to contact one of those type practitioners to be sure.
