Broken eye blood vessel & contact lenses

02/29/2008

Question:

while i have a broken blood vessel in my eye may i continue to wear my (gas-permable) contact lĀ“nses

Answer:

Thank you for your question. If you have been diagnosed with having a broken blood vessel in the conjunctiva, the white part of your eye, then there usually is no harm in continuing to wear your gas permeable contact lenses.

However, if your eye is red for any other reason (i.e. infection), or if you aren't sure why your eye is red and your eye is irritated or painful, immediately stop wearing your contact lenses and schedule an appointment with an eye doctor for further evaluation.
