Vaginal burn

02/28/2008

Question:

I had a pimple on the inside of my labia minora and applied hydrogen peroxide to it more than once, thinking it would cleanse it and bring it to a head so it would pop. The bottom line is now the inside of my vagina on that side is irritated badly (the tissue is very sore, burns and has little cuts). What can I do to heal this tissue?

Answer:

You should use some type of protective barrier like A&D ointment that will allow the area to remain moist so it can heal. It is like a chemical burn. If the area becomes increasingly red, you may need to have it looked at for infection.
