Pimples on vulva?

02/29/2008

Question:

I am a married woman (40 years old) My husband and I have never had previous sexual partners. I have noticed that from time to time, I get pimples on the inner labia of my vulva (the fleshy part). They usually last up to about a week and can be a little painful. What could this be? Many thanks.

Answer:

It could be a herpes infection. This is usually a fluid filled blister that is very painful once it ruptures and heals. It could also be an ingrown hair or sweat gland. You need to have it evaluated once you have another episode.
