HELLO...6WEEKS AGO, I HAD A BIOPSY DONE ON MY TONGUE WITH A DIAGNOSID OF LICHEN PLANUS. THE INCISIONS HEALED, HOWEVER ACCORDING TO THE ORAL SURGEON, THE DISCOMFORT AND PULLING SENSATION I HAVE NOW ON THE SIDE OF MY TONGUE, BY THE EXCISION SITES IS FROM SCAR TISSUE. HE FEELS THIS WILL EVENTUALLY RESOLVE. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR THIS DISCOMFORT, OR CAN IT BE A LIFETIME PROBLEM? THANK YOU
It is not unusual to have discomfort at the site of surgical excision.
This tightness is due to tissue swelling, scar or even due to reformation of the local nerve endings.
This discomfort and tight sensation resolve with time. If the scar tissue is extremely bothersome, a small volume of steroid injected into the scar would expedite the softening of the scar.
