Large complex cyst? Bottom left kidney

03/06/2008

Question:

My husband had a C Scan checking for gallstones. Instead scan showed large complex growth on bottom of left kidney. Size 8.3 cnt. x 8.4 cnt. Needs new C Scan. What is complex? He has no symptoms.

Answer:

Renal cysts could be simple/benign or complex. Usually CT scan can differentiate the feature of simple and complex cysts. Complex cyst is often due to cancer of kidney. Sometimes these cancers may not be symptomatic. Your husband needs to see a urologist for further evaluation of this complex cyst.
