Is 28 too younge for menopause?

03/07/2008 12:36PM

Question:

I am 28 and my dr told me that i am going through menopause. Am I too younge to be starting this? I have never heard of a woman under 40 doing this. What is the possibilities and and the dangers of concieving a child while going through this? Thankyou.

Answer:

Age 28 would be considered a premature menopause. Be sure there has been a thorough evaluation of your situation.  There is no problem or increased risk of getting pregnant if that is what you want to do.  Often it is more difficult for women to get pregnant if they are truly well into menopause.
