Excedrin use and low platelet count03/13/2008 |
I use Excedrin on a regular basis. I also have been receiving chemotherapy treatments of cistplatin and gemzar for recurrence of ovarian cancer. Blood tests conducted before chemotherapy treatment show dropping of platelet count from 96,000 to 76,000, to 62,000. I am told the use of Excedrin does not cause the drop in platelet count, but the use of Excedrin could affect the function of the platelets. Your medical opinion please.
That is corrrect - aspirin inhibits platelet function.
