Can you take Warfarin and Heparin together?
Both drugs are commonly given together at the beginning of anticoagulation therapy since the heparin has a rapid affect and the warfarin needs a couple days until it is effective.
After several days the heparin is usually discontinued. In rare situations, they are sometimes given together more long-term, but these are the exception rather than the rule.
